Home / About us

We are a 6th-year team of high school students in the Ottawa community, interested in robotics, who team up with industry mentors (Engineers, Business/Project Planners, Scientists, and Computer Programmers) to build a robot from scratch in only 6 weeks!  We then take our robot to compete at FIRST Robotics Competitions (FRC)!

We are truly a community team and are not tied to any specific High School.  While this configuration has its advantages (more inclusive, draws members from our wider community), it also has disadvantages  - the largest being financial.  We hope to gather more community sponsors this year to help us achieve our budgetary goals and to one day have a permanent build space.

About FIRST

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an amazing organization for anyone and everyone! FIRST help to show youth worldwide what it's like to work in a STEM (science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) environment!

How to get involved!

FIRST is for everyone! If you go to the official FIRST website we can help you find a team near you!

There are many different levels of FIRST! We are an FRC team, however, we also help out with a few FLL teams and would be more than happy to help anyone find a team. FIRST is for everyone, If you are of the age for any of the levels then that's great and you can become a FIRST student today! If you are older than 18 you can easily become a mentor and you will still get to experience FIRST!

FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) is a division of First robotics for Highschool students from Grades 9 to 12. They have six weeks to design and build a robot who can play in that year's game. This year the Game is called First Power up and students must create a robot that can complete the tasks in this game. Once the six weeks is up the robot must be put in a bag and can not be touched again until the competitions. Every year the games changes which means the team must build a completely new robot to complete the tasks of that individual game.

FLL stands for FIRST Lego League! this is a competition where middle school ages students from grade 4 - 8 can learn the basics of building and programming and begin to love STEM! There is also a challenging aspect where students are asked to use Science and Technology to tackle a real-world problem and find a solution!

FLL Jr is FIRST Lego League junior! This is where a student from kinder garden to Grade 4 can work on a team to build a simple robot out of lego and bring it to a competition! It is used lego to teach the foundation of robotics to young children in a judgment-free environment where everyone can learn and play together!
