Who
Each and every year, FIRST releases a brand new complex and exciting challenge. Under strict rules, limited resources, and limited time, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand”, hone teamwork skills, build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” as a student can get!
Where
Team 2706 members are mostly from the West Ottawa area including Kanata, Stittsville and West Carleton but come from all areas of Ottawa. Students attending any high school are welcome to join. We meet at a garage given to us by MVS Remote Video Systems, a rented office space given to us by Ontario Rental and Supply and the Beaverbrook Library.
What
Our team is comprised of 48 dedicated high school and grade 8 students who are pursuing all different sorts of careers, some science-related, some not. They are joined by a diverse group of mentors drawn from the Ottawa community: engineers, scientists, business leaders, graduate and undergraduate university students.
